BluEarth Directors and CEO Named to Canada’s Clean50

BluEarth Directors John and Ross Keating and CEO Kent Brown have been named to Canada’s 2012 Clean50, as outstanding contributors to clean capitalism.  See the announcement here.

Canada’s 2012 Clean50 is a collection of the 50 individuals or small teams, who, in the opinion of Delta Management Group and a team of expert advisors, have made the greatest impact on Canada’s long-term sustainability and contributed the most to clean capitalism in this country over the past few years.

A national search process identified well over 300 people as worthy candidates, producing in almost every category at least 10 names to consider.  Delta Management’s President and Chief Talent Officer, Gavin Pitchford, stated “The interest shown by individuals and companies across almost every sector was quite remarkable, and the quality of nominees was exceptional.  The good news for Canada is that we had so many deserving people to consider.”

The inaugural Clean50 is a group of truly outstanding individuals and teams whose personal commitment to sustainability has led to significant and measurable impact within their respective industries, and resulted in substantial benefits for all Canadians.

The team of the Keatings and Brown successfully built Canada’s largest renewable energy company, Canadian Hydro Developers.  Founded by the Keatings in 1989, Canadian Hydro was the pioneer of renewables in Canada; worth over $1.6 billion when it was taken over through a hotly contested takeover battle in 2009.  The legacy they built will continue to benefit the environment and society for generations to come.

In 2010, the Keatings and Brown continued their journey by starting up BluEarth Renewables, a private Canadian company that develops and operates renewable energy projects across North America.  BluEarth has already made a significant impression on the renewables market when it partnered on a $640 million acquisition of hydroelectric plants in Ontario.

With over 55 years of combined renewables experience, the Keatings and Brown are pioneers, leaders and influencers in an industry that makes a meaningful and positive impact on the world.
